Swinging into Summer

On a warm summers day at Beamish Golf Club, over 130 enthusiastic young golfers from schools across County Durham came together for a fantastic celebration of sport, skill, and teamwork. Hosted by SLP Sport and proudly supported by England Golf, the Year 5/6 Golf Festival was a resounding success, offering pupils a chance to experience golf in a fun and inclusive environment.

The morning session welcomed a mix of 98 pupils, who rotated through a series of engaging golf challenges designed to develop their putting, chipping, and driving skills. With expert guidance from Beamish Golf Club staff and volunteers, the young golfers showed incredible enthusiasm and sportsmanship throughout the day.

In the afternoon, the spotlight turned to our Girls Only session, where 39 girls took to the course with confidence and excitement. This dedicated session aimed to encourage greater female participation in golf, and the energy was infectious as the girls embraced the sport with determination and joy.

England Golf’s support was instrumental in making the day memorable, providing resources and encouragement to help every participant feel like a champion. From first-time players to budding pros, the festival was a celebration of growth, inclusion, and the power of sport to bring communities together.
